Peter Gyenes

Non-Executive Chairman

Peter Gyenes joined the Sophos board of directors as non-executive chairman in 2006, bringing experience with corporate growth and value creation to our vision for integrated threat management leadership.

Peter was most recently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ascential Software Corporation, until its acquisition by IBM in April 2005. He brings to Sophos four decades of experience in technical, sales, marketing and general management positions within the computer systems and software industry in the Americas, Europe and Asia/Pacific.

He serves on the boards of Intralinks, Inc., Lawson Software, Inc., Pegasystems Inc., RealPage Inc., VistaPrint N.V., a number of privately held technology companies and the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (Trustee Emeritus).

Peter has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and an MBA from Columbia University in New York.

Kris Hagerman

Chief Executive Officer

Kris Hagerman joined Sophos in 2012 as CEO. He is responsible for all aspects of Sophos’ strategic direction and business operations.

Prior to Sophos, Kris was CEO of Corel Corporation. Previously, Kris served as group president, data center management at Symantec, where he led a business of more than $1.5 billion that represented nearly 30 percent of Symantec’s global revenue. Prior to Symantec, Kris was executive vice president and GM, storage and server management at Veritas Software where during his tenure, the company grew from $1.0 billion in revenue to more than $2.0 billion, prior to its acquisition by Symantec. Earlier in his career, Kris was founder and CEO of BigBook, an online yellow pages service and founder and CEO of Affinia, an online contextual advertising network. Kris also held positions at Silicon Graphics and McKinsey & Company.

Kris has a bachelor’s degree in Russian and economics from Dartmouth College, an M.Phil. in international relations from Cambridge University, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Nick Bray

Chief Financial Officer

Nick Bray joined Sophos as Chief Financial Officer in 2010. He has worked in the technology sector for over 20 years. Nick has extensive international operational skills combined with significant public company experience, having previously been the CFO of listed companies on both the London Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. He has successfully accelerated organic growth both at Sophos and prior organizations through acquisition, having now acquired and integrated in excess of ten companies; funding for these transactions being raised in both the UK and US debt markets.

Before joining our team, Nick was Group CFO at Micro Focus International plc, where he was instrumental in the company tripling revenue and increasing market capitalization from circa £200M to in excess of £1Bn. Nick has also held Group CFO roles at Fibernet Group plc and Gentia Software plc, as well as senior financial positions at Comshare Inc. and Lotus Software.

Nick has a 1st class bachelor's degree in engineering from Aston University, UK, and is a qualified chartered accountant having trained with PWC.

Sandra E. Bergeron

Non-Executive Director

Sandra Bergeron joined our board of directors as an independent non-executive director in 2010. She is one of the well-known and highly respected women of technology in Silicon Valley. Sandra serves as a director of F5 Networks, Inc and Qualys, Inc. She previously served as a director of Tipping Point, Netegrity, Nuance Communications, TriCipher, and ArcSight, until their acquisitions. In her career at McAfee, Sandra held a number of key executive positions, including head of research and development, head of corporate strategy, and president of PGP Security.

Through her chairmanship of the Bergeron Women in Technology Mentorship Program at Georgia State University and the University of California at Berkeley, Sandra actively promotes the role of women in technology.

Sandra holds an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and a bachelor's in business administration (Cum Laude) from Georgia State University, where she was named to the Hall of Fame at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business.

Edwin J. Gillis

Non-Executive Director

Edwin Gillis joined our board of directors as an independent non-executive director in 2009. He is currently a member of the board of directors and chairman of the audit committees of Teradyne Corporation, LogMeIn and Endeca Technologies Inc. He was a director and chairman of the audit committees of BladeLogic and EqualLogic Inc. until their acquisition by BMC Inc. and Dell, respectively.

Edwin’s been a business consultant since 2006, including interim leadership roles at Skype and Avaya. From July 2005 through January 2006, he was Senior Vice President of Administration and Integration at Symantec Corporation, which he joined as a result of Symantec’s merger with VERITAS Software. At VERITAS Software, Edwin was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Before joining VERITAS in November 2002, Edwin was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). Before joining PTC in 1995, Edwin was the Chief Financial Officer for Lotus Development Corporation and spent 15 years with Coopers & Lybrand as a certified public accountant and general practice partner.

Edwin has a bachelor's degree in government from Clark University in Massachusetts, a master's degree in international relations from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Roy Mackenzie

Non-Executive Director

Roy Mackenzie joined the Sophos board of directors as an independent non-executive director in 2010. He joined Apax Partners in 2003 and is a partner in the technology and telecom team. Previously, Roy worked at McKinsey & Company, Inc., focusing on consulting clients in the high technology sector. Roy also held product management positions at Psion Computers.

While at Apax, Roy worked on a number of investments including NXP Semiconductors, and King.com. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller scholar, and a master's degree in engineering from Imperial College, London.

Rick Medlock

Chief Financial Officer, Worldpay

Rick has 30 years experience in the technology, telecoms and media sectors. Currently CFO at Worldpay, a global leader in payments processing, Rick was formerly CFO at Inmarsat plc and Misys. He has extensive experience of transforming businesses while under private equity ownership, and has overseen a number of IPOs both in the US and the UK, including Worldpay’s own listing on the London market in October 2015.

Steve Munford

Non-Executive Director

Steve Munford is Non-Executive Director at Sophos. He served as Sophos’ CEO from 2006 to 2012 and, during that time, led the company through a period of dramatic growth, more than tripling bookings. Prior to his role as CEO, Steve served as President of Sophos for North America and then became Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day running of the company and its senior management team. Previously, he was President of ActiveState before its acquisition by Sophos in 2003. Under his leadership, ActiveState established itself as a global leader in email security software.

Steve has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario and has an MBA from Queen's University, Ontario.

Vin Murria

Non-Executive Director

Vin Murria joined the Sophos board of directors as an independent non-executive director in January 2017. Vin also serves on the numeration and compensation committees.

Vin brings more than 25 years of venture capital, private equity, M&A and CEO/operational experience in the software sector. Vin has held CEO positions at Advanced Computer Software which she founded in 2008 and sold seven years later to Vista Private Equity, and at Computer Software Group. During her five-year tenure at Computer Software Group she took the company private, backed by HG Capital, then subsequently sold it to PE Hellman Friedman in July 2007.

Vin is currently a non-executive director for Softcat and for Zoopla Property Group, and she is a partner at Elderstreet Investments. Previously, Vin has held non-executive director positions for Chime Communications, Greenko Group and Concateno.

Vin was named Cisco's Woman of the Year and Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 2012. Cisco also named Advanced Computer Software Tech Company of the Year in 2014, having grown to be the third largest UK headquartered software business. In 2007, Vin formed and fully funded a charitable foundation targeted at educating and supporting women in India and the UK.

Vin has a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and an MBA from the University of London and a Doctorate Business Administration (Honorary) from Edinburgh Napier University.

Salim Nathoo

Non-Executive Director

Salim Nathoo joined the Sophos board of directors as an independent non-executive director in 2010. He is a partner and co-head of Apax Partners' technology and telecom team. He joined Apax Partners in 1999 and has been involved in a variety of investments including SMART Technologies (interactive collaboration technology provider), Promethean World (education technology provider), iGATE/Patni (IT services provider). Weather Investments (holding of Asian, African and European mobile and fixed telecom operators), Tim Hellas (Greek mobile operator), Inmarsat (mobile satellite services provider), and Mobifon (Romanian mobile operator). Salim currently serves on the boards of SMART Technologies, iGATE and Weather Investments.

Before he joined Apax Partners, Salim worked at McKinsey & Company, Inc., where he focused extensively on telecommunications. Salim also held sales, marketing and technical positions at NYNEX CableComms Ltd. and IBM. He earned a master's degree in mathematics from St. John's College, Cambridge University and an MBA from INSEAD.

Paul Walker

Non-Executive Director

Paul Walker joined the Sophos board of directors as an independent non-executive director in April 2015. Paul brings more than 30 years of technology and senior leadership experience to the board of Sophos, having served for 16 years as chief executive officer of Sage Group plc., a leader in business solutions for small and medium businesses.

With extensive board experience, Paul is currently non-executive chairman of Perform Group Ltd.,  non-executive chairman of Halma plc and a non-executive director for Experian plc. Paul has previously served on the boards of Diageo plc., My Travel Group plc, WANdisco and Ernst & Young.

Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, having graduated from York University with a degree in economics.
